Search For A File

Searching for files is of course the primary purpose of Burn Rubber. This screen will allow you find any file that your computer can access with speed and efficiency.

Selecting Where To Search:

The first thing you need to do is to select a location to search. This is done on the left hand side of this screen. You have two options for searching. The first and top most is to search by drive, you can easily select one drive or all your drives in this list.

The second way to select a location is to select a single drive in the lower drop down, and then select a specific folder to search.

Selecting A File To Find:

Generally you want to search for a file by it's name and/or type. These are the first 2 fields on the top right of this screen. You can enter ANY portion of the file name you wish to search for. You can also search by the file type, you may select one from the drop down list, or enter one to search for.

Find Only Files Created Between These Days:

If you know about when the file was created you can enter/select a from and to date to search for as well. This will reduce your results to only those files created between the dates that you select.

Search Inside A File:

Sometimes you may not remember the name of a file, but you can remember some text inside of the file. Entering a string into this field will allow you to search inside files for a string and show files matching that string.

Case Sensative:

Generally Burn Rubber will not look at the capitalization of a file name, however if you wish it to do so, check this box. This will make FileName different from filename and Filename. If this is on, it will only match files with the exact same capitalization as the file name you entered to search for.
