Manage Servers

The Manage Servers window is where you maintain a listing of all your usenet servers. The window contains the following fields:
Server Name:
This is a logical name for your server, it can be anything you want, but should be something meaningful to you.
Server Address:
This is the internet address of your news server. Most servers have a URL to them such as news.mynewsserver.com, however some will use a numeric IP address such as 120.119.118.117. If you don't have this information contact your usenet provider.
Username:
Most usenet servers require you to login, if yours does, you need to enter your username here.
Password:
If you have a password to access your server, enter it here.
Port:
This is an advanced setting. Most USENET servers will operate on port 119, unless you have been told otherwise by your usenet provider, don't change this.
Posts:
This is the number of usenet groups to post to at a time. Basically this is the number of CC's per message. The lower number of CC's the greater the chance your message will be seen, the higher number the faster your messages will post. If your are experiencing a lot of 441 errors when posting, try reducing the number of posts.
Server Listing:
This is the tall box on the right side, it will list all your servers. To edit a server just click on it in this list, and then click the edit button.

Edit Button:
Once you single click on a server, you will see an edit and a delete button appear. Clicking the edit button will allow you to make changes to this server. Once you click the edit button, a save and a cancel button will also appear.
Save Button:
This will save any changes you have made to a server.
Cancel Button:
This will disregard any changes you have made to a server.
Delete Button:
This will delete a server listing. |
